Hey there, teacher friends. Welcome to the final episode of the Whole Life Teacher series on the Teacher Support Network podcast. I'm your host, Antoine McCoy, and if you've been riding with us through this journey, you already know it's been a whole vibe. So let's just do a quick recap so far what we've covered in this series.

So first we did an episode on the whole teacher and their reset. Then their faith, their family, their fun, their fitness, their friendships and their finances. Each episode was designed to help you reflect, recalibrate, and reclaim space for your whole life, not just your teacher life. So if you miss any of those episodes, be sure to go back to them and go catch up.

Each one brings something real, something helpful, and something just for you. Now in this episode, we're talking about something too often that gets buried on the lesson plans and late nights. That's the future. So this is the whole teacher and their future. It's easy to get stuck in survival mode, but fam, let's keep it real.

You were created to live with vision, not just respond to chaos. Yes, we wanna be present and grateful for where we are right now, but we also need to keep our eyes lifted up. What's next for you? What's stirring in your spirit? Your future doesn't have to be crystal clear, but it does deserve your attention.

So let's talk about the professional future first. Maybe it's about casting a new vision for your classroom this year. Maybe stepping into leadership, like admin coaching or something involving curriculum development. Maybe it's going back to school or earning a new certification. Maybe it's starting a new role that lets you serve students and families in a fresh way.

If you're a veteran teacher, maybe it's looking forward towards retirement and the legacy you wanna leave behind.

The point is your career isn't meant to be static. It's a living journey. So whether you're just starting a teacher journey teaching journey, or you're decades deep in it. I want you to ask yourself, where am I being called to next?  And it doesn't have to mean that you're leaving the classroom. Sometimes it's just simply re-imagining your role within it.

So now let's zoom out a bit because you are more than just your job. So what are your personal dreams? Is there a skill you wanna learn? Maybe a creative project you've shelved for too long.  It could be a business idea you've been sitting on, or even something as soul filling as travel, maybe serving in a ministry, or mentoring others. Your future isn't just about climbing ladders, but it's really about living your life fully. God has given you gifts, talents, and experiences that are meant to grow inside and outside of education.

So here's the truth. You really don't have to figure it all out today, but it's worth asking these questions. What kind of teacher and person do I want to become this year? What part of my future have I been ignoring or maybe just simply downplaying and what's one step I can take to explore or invest in that area?

When I look back at my own journey in education, from the classroom to mentoring, to building this work that supports teachers like you. It's been a series of small, intentional steps, and not every step made sense in the moment, but they all moved me towards something bigger, something more aligned that brought me to serve you, my audience now and in the future.

So here's an action step for you. As we close this episode, write down one professional goal and one personal goal or vision or dream that you have for your life. Then I want you to choose one small simple step to take this month towards one of them. Just one. So is it a professional or personal goal?  Doesn't really matter. You get to choose and you get to decide.

I wanna leave you with this closing challenge from the authors of the book that inspired this series. You can find that book in the show notes for this episode. So here's what they write.

“We hope you accept the challenge to dream without fear about the life you imagine. We hope you set clear, sharp, and compelling goals in each of the seven F's. Then with the help of friends and family, you can blend the seven F's together and live each day gratefully ever after.”  (pp.137)

And friends, I couldn't agree more. So be encouraged. You're doing better than you know, and even if you can't see all the fruit right now, you're planting seeds for something greater.

Until next time, teacher, friends, check out the show notes for the transcript, additional resources that we discussed, and how to connect with me on social media. That's it for now. Have a great week. Take care.
